Julia West House

Julia West House is a 12-story supportive-housing project in downtown Portland. Public project descriptions say the development will provide 90 units for seniors, with a focus on residents who need affordable housing and access to on-site services. The project exists to expand permanent supportive housing capacity in the West End while adding a major mass-timber residential building to the city’s housing stock. Its compact urban site made early retention and foundation work especially important to the overall delivery plan. Pacific Foundation installed soldier piles, CFA shafts, lagging, and tiebacks for Julia West House on a constrained downtown Portland site. The shoring and deep foundation work supported excavation and structural loads for the mass-timber housing tower.
