US 95 Sound Wall

The US 95 Corridor Access Improvements in Hayden, Idaho included sound walls in high-density areas beside the highway. Pacific Foundation’s public project page ties the work to Idaho Transportation Department efforts to reduce the impact of traffic noise on neighboring communities as traffic volumes increased. The project exists to improve livability for adjacent residents while keeping a heavily used corridor functioning efficiently. Sound wall construction in this setting depends on durable substructure work because the wall has to perform for years beside an active highway. Pacific Foundation installed approximately 120 drilled shaft foundations for the US 95 sound wall using 36-inch shafts. The work included drilling, rebar-assist support, and concrete placement for the noise-barrier structure.
