The US 26 & OR 35 ITS Project added intelligent transportation infrastructure in the Mt. Hood Highway safety corridor. ODOT described the effort as part of a broader push to improve warning, education, and real-time communication for drivers on a hazardous mountain route. The project exists to give motorists earlier notice of changing road conditions and to improve corridor safety on two connected highways that carry regional and recreational traffic. Because the corridor includes steep terrain and changing weather, sign-support infrastructure is central to how the system performs. Pacific Foundation drilled 60-inch shafts for cantilever sign foundations on the US 26 & OR 35 ITS project using a Bauer BG 24 H in conventional mode. The drilled foundations supported new intelligent traffic signs along the Mt. Hood corridor.
