Press Blocks redevelops the former Oregonian printing site in Portland’s Goose Hollow neighborhood as a mixed-use urban project. The work is part of a long-term transformation of the block into new housing, office, retail, and public-facing space. Because the site sits in a constrained urban setting, excavation support was a critical early phase of construction. Pacific Foundation installed 124 soldier piles, 523 tiebacks, and more than 35,000 square feet of lagging for the Press Blocks shoring system. The earth-retention package supported excavation and below-grade construction on the Goose Hollow site.
