Utility-Scale Solar Construction

Utility Scale Solar Farm Construction

Pacific Foundation installs foundations for utility-scale solar projects in Hawaii. Our work centers on pile installation, site access, variable ground conditions, and the field production needed to keep large arrays moving.

The Vermeer PD10R

The Vermeer PD10R is purpose-built for solar pile installation. Remote controls and positioning guidance help operators place piles to the required depth and angle while maintaining separation from the driving operation. The rig's compact setup also supports efficient movement across large sites.

Why Pacific Foundation?

Solar pile equipment: The PD10R gives our crews a dedicated platform for repeatable pile placement across utility-scale arrays.

Hawaii operations: Our local team plans around island mobilization, access, weather, and ground conditions.

Field coordination: We coordinate pile installation with project layout, testing requirements, and the construction schedule.

Safety: Remote operation keeps the operator away from the pile-driving point while the pile is set and installed.

Project planning: Compare the pile layout, ground conditions, testing requirements, and access plan before selecting installation equipment.

Services

Pacific Foundation provides deep foundation, ground improvement, and earth retention services. The methods below may support solar and related civil work when the plans and geotechnical conditions call for them.

CFA (Auger Cast) Piles

Continuous flight auger piles provide drilled foundation support where vibration, spoil handling, and concrete placement sequence affect the work.

Displacement CFA Piles

Displacement CFA piles move soil laterally during installation and can reduce spoil volume where the ground profile, vibration limits, and pile layout support the method.

Drilled Shafts

Large-diameter drilled foundations are used where structural loads, ground conditions, access, or casing requirements shape the work.

Driven Piles

Driven pile systems are selected around load requirements, access, installation effects, and site conditions.

Micropiles

Small-diameter drilled and grouted piles can support retrofit, low-headroom, seismic, and limited-access work.

Deep Cement Mixing

Deep cement mixing blends soil with cementitious binder for stabilization, cutoff, excavation support, and water-bearing ground.

Jet Grouting

Jet grouting creates targeted soil-cement treatment for underpinning, cutoff, water control, utilities, and constrained access conditions.

Rigid Inclusions

Rigid inclusions provide ground improvement for settlement control below slabs, tanks, embankments, and other loaded areas.

Ground Anchors

Ground anchors provide tieback support for excavations and retaining structures where bond zones, testing, and easements fit the site.

Underpinning

Underpinning supports existing foundations where adjacent excavation, settlement, retrofit work, or load transfer affects construction.

Sculpted Shotcrete

Sculpted shotcrete provides a finished facing for stabilized slopes, soil nail walls, drainage details, and retention surfaces.

Secant or Tangent Piles

Secant and tangent pile walls provide drilled earth retention for deep excavations, groundwater-sensitive sites, and constrained work areas.

Sheet Piles

Sheet pile systems provide temporary or permanent excavation support, cutoff, and earth retention where driven installation fits the site.

Soil Nailing

Soil nails reinforce slopes, excavations, and shoring faces by working with the existing soil mass.

Soldier Piles and Lagging

Soldier pile and lagging walls provide staged excavation support for constrained building, utility, and infrastructure sites.
