Commercial Construction
Foss Maritime
Client: HME Construction
Scope of Work: Pre-Bore Piles
Project Year: 2024
On this project, Pacific Foundation was retained to pre-bore shafts for a new dock construction along the Columbia River, one of the world’s most challenging waterways. Using a barge-mounted BG24H, Pacific is installing 36″ temporary casing and grout to support the new permanent dock piles.
The Project
The new Foss Maritime dock on the Columbia River aims to enhance mooring capabilities and dockside operations, supporting vessel maintenance, logistics, and improved maritime infrastructure for commercial and operational efficiency.
The Solution
The dock’s foundation uses 36-inch pre-bored piles with temporary casing, installed with a barge-mounted BG24 drill rig, ensuring stable, deep foundations in challenging riverbed conditions while minimizing environmental impact.
The Result
The robust dock foundation increases load capacity and operational reliability, supporting Foss Maritime’s logistical operations, expanding its service capabilities, and enhancing safety and efficiency along the Columbia River.
