OHSU Center for Health and Healing

Objective

The OHSU Center for Health & Healing project was conceived with the vision of creating a cutting-edge, multi-functional healthcare facility that could serve the diverse needs of the community in the South Waterfront district of Portland, Oregon. The center, standing at over 400,000 square feet, embodies the goal of integrating healthcare services, research, and education within one structure, streamlining operations, and improving patient outcomes. As part of this vision, Pacific Foundation was tasked with providing advanced geotechnical solutions, ensuring the structural integrity and longevity of the facility. The project represents a significant investment in healthcare infrastructure and is a testament to OHSU’s commitment to serving the community.

Pacific Foundation provided comprehensive geotechnical solutions, including deep foundation drilling, shoring wall construction, and soil stabilization techniques. Our work comprised of drilling 101 shafts up to 100 feet deep, constructing design-build shoring walls, and creating a soldier pile pit. Our BG40 drill, utilized in CFA mode, was instrumental to these tasks. Furthermore, we devised a soil-nailed removable plate system to minimize ground loss where the jacking pipe exited the shoring wall. This project epitomizes our capacity to innovate and execute efficient geotechnical solutions.
